Saint Pio

In 1916 Padre Pio of Pietrelcina came to the convent of the Capuchin to regenerate his poor health . The presence of the humble monk, proclaimed saint in 2002 by Pope John Paul II, has profoundly marked the history and destiny of the country. The monk has contributed to the construction of great works dedicated to the mankind like the "Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza" a modern hospital, the modern Sanctuary built close to the ancient church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the monumental Via Crucis made by the sculptor Francesco Messina.
